Bench-Top Trials
Bench-top Trial Scope and Details
Each Bench-top Sample Includes:
- Recipe Conversion: Converting the client’s recipe to a scalable formula, accounting for adjustments necessary in a larger production environment.
- Ingredient Sourcing: Procurement of standard ingredients or sourcing from specified suppliers for future bulk orders (subject to availability).
- Process Simulation: Mimicking automated processes to the best of our ability with benchtop equipment, allowing us to gauge how well the product can be scaled.
- Documentation: Detailed measurements, water activity readings, and high-resolution photos for reference.
Standard Sample Size: 1 pound of the finished product.
Trial Limitations:
Each bench-top trial includes one bench-top sample per SKU. Additional samples or modifications will require a new trial.
This service is best suited for recipes that are already stable and reproducible, with no further development required.
Requirements from the Brand
For the best possible outcome, the brand is asked to provide the following:
1. Control Sample: A sample of the current product (if available) for comparison.
2. Ingredient Specifications: Exact details of ingredients used, including brand information or specification sheets, as well as images if applicable.
3. Process Details: A step-by-step description of the current production process, including explanations of any unconventional steps to help us understand the “why” behind them. This enables us to replicate key elements during the trial accurately.
Important Notes
- Bench-top Limitations: While we strive to mirror automated processes, benchtop trials may have some variances due to scale and equipment limitations.
- Additional Adjustments: If significant adjustments are needed based on trial results, further benchtop trials may be necessary (additional charges apply).
- Scheduling: Samples will be produced and shipped according to the agreed timeline. Please inform us of any urgent deadlines in advance, as rush orders may incur additional fees.
